EP44 | Tales from brain surgery

About 20 years ago I was working or a cutting-edge change management consultancy and I was privileged to read a transcript of a lecture by an esteemed brain surgeon. He studied how blood moved around the brain and also how to protect intelligence when operating. I was fascinated, and so put into practice the things he suggested in his lecture. The result is this podcast, where I share what I discovered. And guess what... he was right!

EP42 | HOW to change your mindset

We all know that it's our mindset that affects our performance the most - we are reminded of this on TED talks, in self-help books and even high level business conferences. But HOW on earth do we do something about it?

We've all tried affirmations, quotes, retreats, will-power and even therapy... so why are we still hitting a glass ceiling? In this podcast I chat about what has worked and what has worked for me in working with my mindset for over 30 years.

EP38 | Rest & play as a work strategy

After a bout of exhaustion, a friend of mine (who happens to be an elite athlete) smiled and looked me in the eyes... 'Merilyn, my rest days are part of my training. I couldn't do what I do without them'. Woah! Even though I knew this to be true, this came home in a whole new way. On this episode I chat about the critical nature of both rest and play in our work.

Declutter… that word feels great hey? It has scientifically been proven that clutter is more than an eyesore, it affects the way blood moves through our brain! Today's episode is a quick reminder to declutter on three levels - physically, emotionally and with your productivity.

EP35 | Comparison-itus - it's a thing!

Comparison-itus! It's up there with self-doubt, overwhelm and fear of failure. Like an alien that invades our brain. Sabotaging our day. Ruining our to-do lists. Destroying confidence. Let it loose in your thinking for 5 minutes and you'll end up abandoning your best-laid plans and spacing out on Netflix instead. Or raiding the fridge. We all feel it. Even the most successful people we admire feel it. So what can you do when it invades? Listen to this episode and out how you can defeat this enemy. Or at least gag it!
